Profile
I have worked as a Clinical Neuropsychologist since 2002 and in an NHS consultant role since 2016.
I am listed on the British Psychological Society’s Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists. My NHS career
has been based in large teaching hospitals, specifically in Oxford and previously in Sheffield where I have provided
specialist neuropsychological assessments to people undergoing surgery for epilepsy, brain tumours and movement
disorders, as well as for people who experienced a traumatic or acquired brain injury and for people undergoing
diagnostic assessments for dementia.
Prior to clinical training my background was in the field of human memory
disorders research and I completed a PhD in Manchester University and then a Post-Doctoral Research post at the University
of Sheffield. Post qualification I was employed as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. My research has primarily
focussed on memory and what happens when brain structures important for memory are affected by injury or disease. I have continued
to be actively involved in research throughout my career.
I have over ten years of experience of conducting
neuropsychological assessments in a medicolegal setting to document the effects of traumatic brain injuries.
I offer a range of assessments designed to be appropriate for different stages of the recovery/rehabilitation
pathway and to the specific referral question.
