Profile
I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist who has worked with patients both within and outside the NHS following life-changing physical health trauma. I have worked in major trauma, critical care (adult, paediatric and neonatal) and neurorehabilitation services, providing assessment and treatment across the lifespan. I am currently employed as lead clinical psychologist in neonatal intensive care in a tertiary hospital in Bristol.
I trained at the University of Oxford and Cardiff University. I am chartered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am an accredited practitioner with EMDR Europe. I have undertaken extensive training in a variety of therapeutic approaches to trauma, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
In my private practice, I provide expert witness, medico-legal, psychological assessment and therapy services. I work with individuals who are experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, anxiety (including phobias, panic and social anxiety), grief, low self-esteem, physical health problems such as pain and fatigue, and relationship difficulties. My research interests include coping with the psychological impact of traumatic events in physical health settings, and I have authored chapters in key texts accordingly, including the Oxford Handbook of Psychiatry and Psychology (Oxford University Press) and Narrative Practices in Neonatal Intensive Care (Routledge).
